Morenci Turquoise was mined in Greenlee County in southeastern Arizona. This material due to the mine closing in 1984 is rare and near impossible to get and very expensive. Morenci is highly prized for its beautiful blue colors, The Turquoise was a byproduct of the Morenci copper mine in Arizona. From 1956 to 1984 the Turquoise rights were granted to William "Lucky" Brown who had a good mining reputation. The Morenci mine is now closed and is not producing any more material which only adds to its value. The Son and I do all the cutting work we never farm it out. We are Native American gem cutters, we are registered members of the federally recognized Native American tribe Wichita Indians out of Oklahoma.
